The Year 2008

Monday 31st December 2007

Well, it’s nearly that time of year again; time to realise that it’s another year over and you’re one step closer to… whatever.

I’ve decided not to head out to London town this year as it turns out no matter how early you get there, you’re still at the back of the crowd. Still, I suppose that’s not the point and it was good fun, nonetheless.

Anyway, for this time only, here’s some more ‘art’ that hopefully will make it to the Tate Modern.

Happy New Year.

And so this is Christmas

Monday 24th December 2007

Well, here it is again; it seems to have been a fairly quick but good year. It’s nice to see places getting into the swing of things, even if they did start in mid-November. Although, having said that, I can’t shift the nagging feeling that modern Christmas doesn’t have a touch on the Christmas of Old when I was younger.

Maybe it’s me being… well, older and somewhat more cynical. (Damn world and growing up!) And there’s a distinct lack of snow nowadays, until March time that is. I’m not a Crimbo Humbug – far from it – so maybe I should get out there a bit more and see what’s going on. Shouldn’t have probably accompanied my niece to see Santa earlier today too; oh well.

Still, all’s good and can’t complain whatsoever. Managed to actually do most of my Christmas shopping without stressing and last minute buys (except for one), and it’s nice to help prep for tomorrow’s big lunch. We’ve quite a few relatives round so it’s going to lessen the ‘manicness’ of tomorrow.

Anyway, have fun. Remember, don’t peel off the wrapping paper, rip it apart like a child.

Oh, and all you PC people can stuff off.

Merry Christmas! And so this is Christmas

Ar(t)s Crack

Sunday 16th December 2007

I got myself a nice Canon DSLR last month or so, and have been using it on and off of late. Finally, I might actually start doing some more photography work. No doubt it’ll pay itself back in no time (if you see know I randomly shoot, you’ll understand why) and it’s pretty damn enjoyable too. Still need to work on my composition, but at least I can spend a little less time working things out and more time shooting (of course, this isn’t necessarily a good thing).

I thought I’d share my first bit of photography (above). If anyone has been to the Tate Modern to see this piece of “art” in the Turbine Hall, you’ll know how much of a waste of time it was. Still, if I couldn’t get my titular post joke in now, I don’t know when I could.

Unfortunately, it was a rather crap day, weather-wise. It started out okay and I could handle the drizzle, but towards the evening it began to chuck it down. After a while you just don’t care, but things were compounded by a combination of everyone trying to get home at the same time (it was a Friday evening) and numerous Tube stations being closed. Not entirely enjoyable, I can tell you.

And he’s back!

Long time no see.

I’ve no idea why I haven’t been updating my blog – most likely due to sheer laziness. But, I have just updated my blog system and now I can (hopefully) properly block those goddamn spam comments.

A few other changes include the removal of that upper menu bar (I couldn’t work out how to put them back into my HTML after the update, so I left it), and trimming away with those separate blogs for Sight, Sound and Taste. It’s all very streamlined now. (Makes my life easier, too.)

Anyway, I’ll be back on track shortly and will have more tales of woes before the end of the year.
