Not the redundancy thing; that’s been and gone (although not quite for the others – more later). The big bit of news, for those I’ve not told and somehow have randomly stumbled upon my blog, is that…
I’m off to live and work in Toronto!!!
Oh yes indeedy. I’ve been working for the Toronto guys for the past eight months, and what with the redundancy event we raised the concerned that I may well leave the company. So who would do the work?! And so it became that we got them to create a post for me to which I applied and am the successful applicant against all others that applied (all of two others, one of which gave it up after two minutes on the telephone).
So, having got the contract and it seemingly looking pretty good, I’m soon to put my autograph on paper and send it across The Pond. I’ll be starting mid- to late-July, this year, so not long now. I’ve already started looking at the nightmare that is tax, NI and pensions; so far, it’s not looking too bad and should be a (sort of semi-ish) easy task. Maybe. Probably not.
I’ve got to make a few trips to see people, or maybe get them to visit me out there. Which means I need to find a place to live. And everything else that comes with moving country; everyday sort of thing, really. Mmm…
Anyway, I sure am excited and so is everyone else who knows. And now you know, so you should be excited too!
Toronto, here I come.
